What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and mostly ground fighting. The art was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan judo in the early 20th century. BJJ teaches that a smaller opponent can successfully defend themselves against a bigger opponent by using leverage and proper technique such as applying joint-locks and chokeholds.

BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments, mixed martial arts events and self defense.
