Spanish Amateur MMA Championships on May 4 Will Include Anti-Doping

Spain’s National Amateur MMA Championship will take place in the city of Guadalajara on May 4.

The championships will host 93 athletes, each progressing via Spain’s 11 regional federations under the banner of national regulatory body, the Spanish Federation of Olympic Wrestling and Associated Disciplines (FELUCHA).

The national championships serve as the essential gateway for athletes to the Spanish national team ahead of the IMMAF-WMMAA European Open and Junior European Open Championships, taking place from 18-23 June in Rome, Italy. Gold medalists in Guadalajara will be recognised by FELUCHA as the nation’s primary representatives in Rome with silver and bronze medalists also in line for a place in the national team.

Furthermore, doping controls are set to be implemented by the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Health in Sport (AEPSD), with all athletes subject to potential testing. Spain’s commitment to regulating clean sport at the national level sees FELUCHA join other member nations such as FIGMMA (Italy) who lead the way in mirroring the regulatory standards of international IMMAF-WMMAA championships.

The competition can be streamed directly via, with programming of the finals to be produced by LALIGASPORT.

Elimination rounds are expected to take place from 09.30 to 14.00 (CEST) with semi-finals playing out at 16:00 and finals beginning at 20.00.
