UFC Veteran Aisling Daly to host MMA Seminar for IMMAF Athletes

Recent UFC veteran and women’s MMA pioneer, Aisling Daly, is to lead an athletes’ training seminar during competition week of the 2017 European Open Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in March.

About the IMMAF Seminar Series:

IMMAF’s competition week seminar series is set to span subjects that include Anti-doping awareness, concussion prevention and business development for clubs and gyms. The MMA training seminars for athletes are aimed at competitors who are no longer in the tournament, providing them with the continued opportunity to gain experience, learn new techniques and train with athletes from different countries.

About Aisling ‘The Bash’ Daly:

Ais ‘The Bash’ Daly debuted professionally in MMA in 2007, and fought across promotions that include Cage Warriors, Bellator and Invicta FC, to ultimately reach the pinnacle of her career in the UFC women’s strawweight division. Daly became well known for her participation in the reality TV series “The Ultimate Fighter: A Champion Will Be Crowned”, season 20. In total, she accrued 22 professional bouts prior to her premature retirement, announced earlier this week, due to an anomaly showing on a brain scan. Daly trains at Straight Blast Gym in Ireland, home to Conor McGregor, under the tutelage of coach John Kavanagh.

Besides being a pioneer in women’s MMA, Aisling has equally proved an originator outside the ring – most notably in her instigation of the Safe MMA medical project in Ireland. She has remained a volunteer for the project, and a vocal campaigner and ambassador for fighter safety. Daly holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and is an experienced coach and corner with Team SBG.

Outlining what IMMAF athletes can expect to gain from the seminar, Daly commented:

“Athlete development is the single most important job we have as coaches. This sounds simple but actually encompasses a lot of different aspects. As coaches, we should be able to develop the athlete physically and mentally for the challenges that lie ahead. I look forward to sharing my technical knowledge at the IMMAF seminar, and also some gems of knowledge gained through my years of experience.

“As a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt I’ll focus on grappling for MMA, some key principles to acknowledge and some technical options based on these principles. I am very excited to coach IMMAF athletes and I look forward to a fantastic session.”
